News and Events

Resources The Office of Civic Engagement was established in 2001 within the Delta Center for Culture and Learning at Delta State University to house University and community volunteer and service-learning programs.  The office serves as a central clearinghouse for information on campus-wide service-learning and volunteer efforts.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Office of Civic Engagement, as a division of the Delta Center for Culture and Learning, embraces the mission and core values:

"To promote a broad understanding of the history and culture of the Mississippi Delta and its significance to the World."

·         Provide learning opportunities for K-12 and college students who want to understand the role of the Delta as a contributor to World culture.

·         Promote pride of place and community within the ethically, economically and educationally diverse populations of our region.

·         Engage our campus with the communities that surround it through volunteerism, service-learning, historic preservation, and educational interactions.

·         Work with local schools and community organizations to promote racial reconciliation, civic responsibility and citizenship and student activities.

As you will see throughout this web site, service opportunities at Delta State abound.  Take time to explore the possibilities, and make time to get involved.
